Good Morning Bronco Nation,

We want to thank Norris Public Power for working through the night to restore electricity to our school. At this time, most of the building has power, and we anticipate full restoration within the next few hours.

School will be held as normally scheduled today, Monday, September 15th.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Centennial Public School Budget & Tax Request Update

We want to keep our community informed about our 2025-2026 school year budget and tax request. Thoroughly explaining the budget would take a significant amount of time, so here is a quick summary of key points:

General Fund Budget: Our general fund expenses will increase by just 1.6% this year. This modest increase is primarily due to higher staff costs and rising prices for materials and services.

Tax Asking: Even with this slight budget increase, our total tax request across all funds will decrease slightly for the 2025-2026 school year. Thanks to careful financial planning by the School Board, we’ve reached a stable financial position and can avoid a tax increase this year.

Reserves: Over the past few years, we’ve been rebuilding our reserves, as advised by the Nebraska Department of Education and our auditor, to ensure financial stability. Those efforts have paid off, and we’re now in a strong position moving forward.

Special Building Fund: You may notice an increase in our operating budget on paper. This is due to bond funds being deposited into the special building fund this year, which will hold these dollars while our school building project is completed.

We’re committed to responsible financial stewardship while continuing to provide high-quality education and opportunities for our students.

If you have any questions about the budget, please contact the district office at 402-534-2321.
